Here at Wigwam, we’ve always believed that Swindon is a pretty laidback town. We’re blessed with fantastic green spaces to relax in, there are lots of places to practise yoga or meditation, there’s no shortage of welcoming bars and pubs, and property prices are more accessible than neighbouring towns and cities – giving people more opportunities to create their own personal paradise at home.
In addition, crime rates and unemployment are much lower than the national average so there are less things to worry about. In general then, we have every reason to be a happy, positive bunch.
Now new research by Supplement Place, looking at the 50 biggest towns and cities in the UK, reveals that Swindon is indeed doing well in the zen and happiness stakes.
A spokesperson for Supplement Place says: “Have you ever wondered if people are as stressed as you elsewhere in the country? Are there specific places where people enjoy a calmer and more positive life, free from stress and anxiety?”
“We believe that in 2021 we could all do with getting a little more ‘zen’, so we’ve looked at a range of different factors - happiness, life satisfaction, green spaces, meditation, etc. - to bring you the most chilled-out cities in the UK, and here are the results.”

It is interesting that the rankings are dominated by mid-size towns and cities like Swindon, to which we say to our busier neighbours – by all means work in London or Bristol, but come to Swindon to live for a more zen-like lifestyle!
The research was carried out by Supplement Place, a family-run business that takes pride in supplying products without unnecessary fillers, preservatives or chemicals. Just healthy, natural supplements at affordable prices.
